Introduction:
Welcome to my AMES portfolio. This website was created to display my accomplishments and achievements while attending the Academy for Math, Engineering, and Science and Orem High School. Within this website you will find many of the projects, assignments, and papers I completed during high school. Under the "Home" tab you will find a reflection on a quotation and my AMES memory. Under the "DRSL" tab (Desired Results of Student Learning) I displayed assignments that prove I can communicate effectively, think critically, and apply the knowledge I gain. I included a representation of my internship with a math teacher at AMES, my resume, and the Career Exploration Activity under the "Career Readiness" tab. The steps of my senior project including the proposal, research, bibliography, journal logs, and final project are located under the "Senior Project" tab. Under the "College Readiness", tab you will find college applications, transcripts, scholarship applications, a letter of recommendation, college acceptances, scholarship awards, ACT results, college writing samples, a comparison of colleges, College Board search results, and my activities resume. I hope this website helps display my readiness for college and also for my future career.
Biography:
Most high school students would not choose to switch schools for their senior year, but less than one year prior to graduation, Madison Callaway transferred from Orem High School to The Academy for Math, Engineering, and Science. This change was fueled by a desire for a more challenging curriculum with an emphasis on math and science. Though she is undecided about where she would like to attend college, one thing she knows for certain is that she plans to study Math Education.
Madison was born in Naperville, Illinois in 1995. She was born six weeks premature and was blue upon birth. Her first few months were mostly uneventful, with the exception of almost dying at a week old from a respiratory problem and constantly being offered hot dog bits by her older brother. At the age of six months, she moved with her family to Pleasant Grove, Utah, where she currently resides. Her early childhood years were spent eating Roly Poly Bugs, playing T-ball, and taking baths with her Olympic swimming Barbie.
At age eleven, Madison started swim team. Actually, she was forced by her mother to join swim team. However, within three days she was hooked. She currently swims for the Cottonwood High School Swim Team and for Wasatch Front Fish Market. She specializes in the 100 yard fly, 200 yard fly, and the 400 yard IM. Classes she has most enjoyed attending are AP Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, AP European History, AP Statistics, U of U Writing 1010, U of U Writing 2010, and Foods. She has been accepted to Westminster, the University of Utah, Brigham Young University, and Tulane University and is awaiting an acceptance letter from Washington and Lee University.
