Application of Knowledge:
For the Integration and Application of knowledge DRSL, I chose two of my mini projects from AP Statistics. These mini projects are designed to help students apply what they are learning in class to real world situations. Mini Project One required me to appropriately analyze the data of the age at which each individual had their first romantic kiss using a graph and numerical statistics including mean, minimum, quartile one, median, quartile three, and maximum. I also had to use my knowledge of how to design a test to identify any bias in the question asked or the set-up of this sample. Mini Project Two required me to write a one-page statistical report in which I had to apply my knowledge on the constructing of graphs, determining and interpreting regression coefficients and correlation, and the process of finding a line of best fit. These projects presented problems in the real world that could be solved by the lessons I had learned in AP Statistics.
I chose my review on Orem High School's production of West Side Story as my example for the Integration and Application of Knowledge DRSL, prior to me attending AMES. I chose this as my example because each student had to use knowledge learned in Music Appreciation to write a review for the play. In the first body paragraph I demonstrated my knowledge of vocal range and expressions of actors to better understand what was happening in the play. In the second body paragraph I demonstrated my knowledge of how the stage background and props help to tell the story. I demonstrated my understanding and knowledge of actors costumes and the impression those costumes make on the audience in the third body paragraph of this paper. Gaining knowledge is useless if you are not learning to apply and use that knowledge. Learning to apply knowledge is an important skill for the remainder of my high school education, college education, and for life in the real world.
